Dashboard Layout is a way of organizing and combining the elements of a software dashboard into a screen report for instant data monitoring. It is a set of specific display options that have been defined by a user to make the dashboard more convenient for reading, through customizing the arrangement of dashboard elements, such as views and panels.
Layouts are those data arrangement tools that make it possible to create user-friendly dashboard screens. A layout includes certain settings that identify which views and panels to display on a software dashboard for a given user. This layout can be saved and then loaded when needed.
The arrangement settings of a dashboard layout include these items:
- Inclusion (whether to include or exclude a given view)
- Location (coordinates details of a given view)
- Display Size (width and height details of a given view)
For instance, the layout My Tasks on the dashboard of task management software includes such views as To-Do List and Schedule. Users can define the arrangement settings of this layout and upload it when needed to focus on their individual tasks. Another example: the layout Sales Analytics on the dashboard of CRM software displays the following views and panels: Orders, Clients, Payment Notes, and Commission Rates. Sales reps can use this layout to monitor their sales performance and earnings at a glance.
