Dashboard Template is a dashboard designing tool or pattern that serves as a basis or guide for laying out and constructing dashboards and their items and elements such as views and panels. It creates a general representation of a dashboard to define which elements to include and how to organize them on this dashboard.
The main purpose of using dashboard templates is to have a user-specific dashboard outline including all dashboard elements which can be loaded or duplicated any time when needed by users. Templates simplify dashboard data integration, allowing users to preset a model of how dashboard items will be arranged against each other.
Dashboard templates include the following information:
- Dashboard name
- Views and panels to be included in the dashboard
- Layouts that manage the arrangement of dashboard views and panels
A template creates a presentment of what a given dashboard will look like and what objects will be displayed on this dashboard. It lets make a blank design in which there are dashboard items with no content. It is like a framework or skeleton that provides a broad overview of the dashboard and its interlinked components.
