What is Process Overview

Process Overview is composed as a part of process documentation, and it can be used by managers, auditors, project participants, and technicians to obtain the general knowledge about a process they study. An overview advisedly avoids going down into details – additional details can be requested separately, using an overview as a process’s “table of contents” from which you can specifically address every process element. Process overview may include the following: 

• Brief review of the process – its purpose and goals;
• Description of the process results (what is the desired process output);
• Generalized process flow-chart;
• Descriptions of process elements, resources and inputs;
