Project Inventory is a term that can be used to express the following concepts:
- A project’s raw materials that are kept in project’s storage facilities, deliverables that are still in process (project products unfinished yet to a variety of degrees), and finished project items that have been already contributed into accomplishment of this project. It is similar to a conception of company inventory used in management of business organizations (including inventory items such as goods ready for sale, work in process, and raw materials owned).
- Project inventory can be considered as a term similar to project portfolio, but it points general statuses of projects owned by organization or government. The projects can be classified as “potential” (unfunded projects which are analogized with raw materials), “current” (started, but not yet accomplished, which are analogized with work-in-process items), and “completed” (which correspond to ready products).
