Project Oversight is a term that can be understood in two major meanings:
- Project Oversight (inadvertence) may mean a situation when some problem appears overlooked by the project management – for example, when project controllers have underestimated certain negative trends, so the project recently faces a challenge of delay that is hard to rectify, while if it would be addressed and adjusted some earlier, then it could be resolved at much lower costs.
- Project Oversight (supervision) that is carried out by certain oversight body, for example by an oversight committee which acts on behalf of the project owner (this committee is arranged by a consulting company) in order to monitor project risks, issues, schedule, and budget – this can be established as an independent set of eyes and ears for more objective assessment and monitoring of the project health.
