Project Transparency is a mechanism of sharing project data between project participants through facilitating information flow distribution across all management levels throughout the project lifecycle. It is a way to observe project status data while also delivering essential information to implementation teams and management staff.
A project becomes transparent if the following conditions are met:
- Teams can easily access and work with project data, no matter where they’re located and when they try to access.
- There is assurance that data is accurate and provided by the official source.
Essentially, transparency has a positive impact to a project because of the following benefits:

- Increased accountability
- Smooth communications
As much a project is transparent, as it is easier for team members to communicate and share project data. A more transparent project is open to discussion and understanding. Meanwhile, such a project may suffer from information leakage, so it is a matter of project safety to keep project data secure and available only to those having appropriate authority and rights for reviewing and communicating the data.
