Project Management Float

Project management float definition: float (or slack) is the amount of time that a task in a project network can be delayed without causing a delay to subsequent tasks (free float) or project completion date (total float). Let’s consider these types of PM float:

• Total project management float time is how many delays are allowed from the beginning of the project which will not interfere with the projected completion date.
• Free float is the amount of time an activity can be delayed without delaying the early start of any immediate successor activities.
