When you plan your goals it is advisable to set several deadlines for one task. This technique can be called floating deadline, because it means setting of several variants of deadline for one task and changing them according to your actual performance. First variant of deadline is a tight deadline. For example you want to write a novel and you can allocate one year for this work. So one year is your final deadline. You have determined that to complete this task in one year you should write one page per day. Then you can set a tight deadline, let's say it is six months (for beginning take a half of your final deadline). Now you should write two pages per day instead of one. Try to follow this intensified plan and when you reach the first deadline your work can be finished twice faster, and even if you could not manage to perform the plan - at least you have done the most part of your job and you have six months in reserve!
