Project Management Fast Tracking is a technique (method of schedule compression) that is often used when planning a project’s workflow. Project management Fast Tracking definition: It is the process of reducing the number of matters residing sequentially (normally) and changing them to run parallely. In other words it means doing activities in parallel instead of doing them sequentially. Project management Fast Tracking and Crashing techniques are both used to minimize (compress) duration of your project schedule, but method of “Crashing” means adding more resources to the project to reduce the project schedule (increasing the assignment of resources on project activities to complete them faster), while “Tracking” is finding more work or tasks to do in parallel (without adding more resources) to compress the project’s schedule. It is an important and useful method to intensify work at your projects, but there are certain risks – you should be completely sure on how the workflow is designed as some activities just cannot lie in parallel as they are closely interrelated and can be done only sequentially.
