In our everyday life we often do not think about the distinction " activity vs. task ". We usually consider both words as equivalents, so it seems there is no need to make the distinction " task vs. activity " . However, when you face it out of your usual life, you should carefully refer to these words. In terms of project management, a task is a scheduled element of work to be performed during the course of a project. An activity usually means a set of tasks to be performed during the course of a project.
Theoretically, the term may exist, and we can use it to describe what tasks we want to do to undertake the activity we need. In real practice, an activity can be divided into several tasks. For example, the activity "plan a meeting" is composed in the following tasks: "make the meeting schedule", "decide on meeting participants", "choose place and time" and "notify participants of the meeting date".
CcentriQS will help you distinguish your activities from your tasks. This software allows creating task groups which will be your activities and adding tasks to your groups.
