Usually when new project is about being started, the question appears: how we are going to control and evaluate progress over the project? This question is easily answerable only if you have a good project plan, i.e. you clearly know what actually to do, when and how. Before starting a project, as one of the main preparative steps, you need to design templates . There could be several modifications and types of templates for different reports which all together can deliver you a complete picture of how your project lives. performance report – this is a reporting template which helps supervisors and subordinated performers to focus on the main parameters which should be collected and returned to managers. Usually such reports are composed for every particular job or task, being a form with empty fields to be filled-in by doers or their supervisors to make a feedback on how the work was performed in terms of different aspects. progress report – this is a more general kind as it requires information from performance reports mentioned before. It could be just the entire list of all project tasks which should be done during the project performance. While receiving performance reports, the project manager can update the progress report to mark out tasks which were completed. analysis report – this kind of template is used to interpret the project performance. It could be a template for building an analytical diagram or table. evaluation report – it is used to evaluate the overall project or its particular tasks in terms of quantitative and qualitative inputs and outputs of resources. handover report – it is a document required to make a project handover properly, i.e. transmitting responsibilities from the current (dispatching) manager to a new manager. Such a report describes the current state of affairs on the project. | ||
completion report – it describes the overall success and results of the project as soon as it is finished. It shows if all the project goals were achieved, if all the project outcomes can be qualified as sufficient or successful, if all the schedules and requirements were properly met, etc. closure report – it expresses the complete results and finalizes activities on the project – how its infrastructure, resources and assets are put out of operation, utilized and reassigned, what experience was learnt, how the project impact is evaluated, etc. |

closeout report – it is a component supplementing the previous one by detailed history of how the inventory, resources and assets of the closed project were liquidated. update report – it is a report on how certain change was managed and implemented into project scale or structure, along with explaining its impact and scale of reorganization. audit report – this report is about monitoring ongoing project parameters to make them clear and identify if project is progressing in a correct way, or any defections are detected and should be immediately fixed. |

Good example of sample project report software is VIP Task Manager that is a client-server tool to plan and control tasks assigned to multiple team members. With a help of this software you can create sample project plans, communicate status reports to your employees to explain how the project can be reported, and control their real activities and project tasks.
