In simple terms, basic project management software is an application that lets manage the traditional PM process. Among a variety of software solutions, it gives you a set of traditional tools that allow initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing projects. Such tools include the following:
- ToDo List Manager. Without using task lists and todo lists you cannot manage any project. ToDo List Manager allows you to create, prioritize and assign todo lists. It also allows tracking and monitoring basic tasks.
- Project Tree Builder. While ToDo List Manager allows you to organize todo lists and tasks, Project Tree Builder allows you to develop tree-like structures and hierarchies for your projects. By means of this tool, you will be able to create decompositions of your tasks, use WBS (the basic PM methodology) and divide the management process into phases and stages.
- Scheduler. You cannot follow your todo lists and records if tasks are not scheduled. By means of Scheduler you can set durations for your tasks and define deadlines. It also helps you display your PM steps in daily/weekly/monthly view.
- Resource Manager. This tool will let you plan and use human resources of your project. You will be able to define a quantity of human resources necessary to cover the needs of your PM plan.
- Calculator. While managing your project, you may need to do some necessary calculations and measure various indicators that characterize your project. Calculator is one of the tools to let you measure project characteristics, review team performance, and estimate jobs and tasks.
