Reporting is a way for gathering and analysing information about task progress and achieved goals. In the translation agency the task report can be used for controlling daily/weekly/monthly job results of the translators, linguists, copywriters, interpreters, and proofreaders. Within the translation agency solution VIP Task Manager allows to build and print out task reports in text or graph view and export to-do list view to Microsoft Excel program.

Creating task reports in text view
For example, the translator should create report on status of the task “Translate article”. The report may include such common fields as “Name”, “Status”, “Assignment”, “Due Date”, “Complete”, and custom fields as “Language”, “Document Type” and “Translation Type”. Then the manager, who receives this report, will be aware of the article name, language, deadlines, assigned translator and current progress. The report can be built both on single task and a group of tasks so that the manager can monitor task progress of one employee as well as a team. In VIP Task Manager the task report can be created in RTF (text) view or HTML format. When building a report, an employee of the translation agency can customize various parameters (task attributes) which are due to be included in it (dates, attachments, notes, comments, etc.).

Task list view in MS Excel sheets
A possibility to get printable task list view is a convenient way to report the manager on current task progress.  VIP Task Manager has a convenient tool for exporting and further customising of reports which takes advantage of the formatting and presentation capabilities in Microsoft Excel software. In VIP Task Manager the task list view can be exported into MS Excel sheets (option “Export View to Excel”). This feature can be used to create and print out the report on overall agency’s tasks. The hardcopy of to-do list can be helpful if, for example, the interpreter needs to go to the airport to meet a foreign visitor. The hardcopy will inform him of the visitor’s name, arrival time, possible companions, and other. To get the hardcopy, the interpreter can filter his to-do list and export it to Excel sheet.

Creating reports in graphic view
Graph report is a convenient way to visualize task progress and monitor performance of the employees. For example, the manager may need to see overall status of the software localization and to find out what tasks are still in progress and which translators probably delay their tasks. In VIP Task Manager the activity of the translation agency employees and their tasks can be represented in charts or diagrams. To monitor progress of the task in the task group “Software Localization”, the manager needs to select this task group, then go to Charts panel and choose the value “Complete” in the tool bar of the panel. The manager can use Filter Bar to display the tasks of particular translator and then build chart for filtered tasks. There are several kinds of charts available, such as Pie Diagram, Area Diagram, Column Diagram and Bar Diagram. Each of the diagrams can be printed out.
