Why your team members should understand the goals
When team members don't know why they do certain tasks, they can do the tasks not in the way you want them to. You, as a team leader, know the reasons why this or that task should be done because you see the whole picture, when you assign the tasks to your team. However, your team may not understand the goals so clear as you, because they see only part of the project or plan.
How to remind team members about the goals
Even if they understand, they may be so focused on their own jobs and forget about the goals if they are not reminded of. Of course, you can repeat the goals at each meeting, but you may soon get the reputation of a 'control freak' who considers that they are not capable to understand simple things. Also, when you keep telling them their goals again and again, they may start to hate it. Why not make the goal as a title for to do lists you print and hand out daily?
Action plan
- Start your team to do list software
- Go to 'Print Preview'
- Go to 'Format Report'
- Click on 'Title Properties'
- Enter the goal as a title and click OK
