Besides of standard task attributes that characterize name, time parameters, priority etc. law firm may require custom task attributes that reflect specificity of juridical workflow.VIP Task Manager is task management groupware that provides possibility to create custom fields of different types including smart custom fields with formulas. Let's consider several variants of how customization of tasks can be used in law firm practice.

Displaying clients' contact information:
It can be useful for law firm to store contact information of their clients in law tasks database, so when legal specialists perform tasks connected with the case of certain client they can easily find how to contact him/her in order to clarify certain questions. For this you can use options of VIP Task Manager to create "String" type custom fields that represent client's e-mail, mobile and working phones, address and whatever is required. When you use Task Tree to create new client's folder that will contain tasks dedicated to client's case you can enter all this data into fields and they will be conveniently displayed near the client's name.

Displaying fees billed and collected:

Law firm should carefully handle money aspects of the business and track incomes, fees paid to lawyers, paid contributions, fees billed etc. In spite of the fact that VIP Task Manager is not financial management software, customization and tracking capabilities of VIP Task Manager can be used to manage information about money (planning, tracking and calculating). For example it is possible to track fees billed and collected by each client (see screen-shot).

For this purpose it is possible to create custom fields of "Float" type and enter into field "Display format" value "#0.00 USD" (if you would like to use another currency you need to input another value, ex: "#0.00 EURO"). It is possible perform various calculations with numbers entered into the task (or task group). For example you can create smart custom field with formula in order to subtract "Fees collected" from "Fees billed".
You can use VIP Task Manager to report and track sales plans, outturn, bills and orders paid. For tracking bills paid you can create additional task attributes such as "Bill number", "Amount" etc. so your accountant can list bills by clients in task groups dedicated to these clients and check their status.
